December is here!

I can't believe December has arrived.  And what a first day...tornado watches and 70 degree weather, in VA!  Weird huh??  Anyway, Thanksgiving has come and gone, I so enjoyed cooking the meal.  We had deep fried turkey and OMG it was sooo good.  We stayed home on Black Friday, I have yet to find me something on sale that makes me want to brave the crowds.........the weekend came and went and next thing you know, BAM here is December.  I am excited about the month.  Christmas lights, carols, going to different holiday festivals...it all puts me a wonderful mood. We are going to get a real tree this year, cutting it down and everything, figure the kids will love it because I know I will!  I haven't had a live tree in over 10 years back when I in AL and we would go cut us one down every year......Can't wait.  I will post more as the month progresses, hopefully each more Merry then the other.  Until then, happy late Thanksgiving, and warm holiday greetings!  The pic is of my hubby frying the turkey for Thanksgiving....love ya babe!

Haven't you heard?

Haven't you heard?  40 is the new 20.  So many people have been turning 40 lately, Jennifer Aniston, Jennifer Lopez, Rachel Hunter, Mat Damon, Uma Thurman, Ethan Hawke, Heather Graham, Tina Fey, Queen Latifah, and Vince Vaughn.  All these stars turned 40 this year, and yesterday I proudly joined their ranks!
Yep, 1970 was when I was born.  Bell bottoms, polyester and long dresses, I can remember them all.  Then the eighties with the fluorescent socks, slap bracelets, side ponytails and pastel high top Reeboks, I was there...the nineties and early 2000's were my band memories, G & R, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Metallica, Nirvana.... So far the 2000s has to me been an eclectic blend of the 60's, 70's and 80's combined with a leftover 90s.  Looking back I have saw a lot of history, the 1976 bicentennial, the shooting of Lennon and of Reagan, the tearing down of the Wall, Desert Storm, Black Friday, The Twin Towers, the first black president and the first woman to run for vice president. Seeing on TV a princess marry then tragically die.  Seeing me get married to a great guy! Seeing presidents fall from grace and be made fun of on every TV channel, only to rise again in the public eye.   From bag phones in the car to Cell phones that do EVERYTHING, from TV consoles that only got 4 channels to flat screen TVs with 3D that get hundreds of stations, am/fm to Sirius radio, from only having a few computers in offices to now having multiple computers in every home and knowing what is going on right now, halfway around the world, thanks to internet and satellites, it is amazing what we as the world has accomplished.  And of course I can't forget my greatest accomplishment, these two nuts in the pic, my beautiful, sweet children that I love more then life itself.
I can't wait to see what the next forty years will hold for me to see, be a part of and remember!
So happy Birthday to me and to all the other people out there who are turning 40, just remember, life is just beginning!

Well, its Friday and the week is done.  First off, thanks to all the men and women serving or who have served for our country, this week was for you!  Happy Veteran's Day!  It has been a busy week for me, getting back in the groove of things with my husband Chuck back from his deployment.  Four months being by my self earned me new habits :)  But so far so good, we are both slowly blending back into each other's life great.  The kids have been in hog heaven with Daddy home again, and he is so happy to be back to the states as are we.
It is official, it is Fall time in Hampton Roads!  The wind is icy, winter jackets are out and no more flip flops (except for my son who lives in them regardless of the weather)  The trees are beautiful this year, the prettiest I have saw them since moving here.  The picture is of the view from the playground next to our house, makes it nice to go out with the kids and play.  Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend and stay warm!

My First Post :)

This is my first blog and my first post.  I wanted to start this to document the things I do, be it little things like making cookies to vacations and interesting places I might go.  I still have a lot to learn about blogging and about how to post pictures and such, so anyone reading, please be patient with me as I learn.  Oh, by the way, this is a picture of me and my daughter Sarah horsing around on photo booth.  Have a wonderful wonderful day!
