Haven't you heard? 40 is the new 20. So many people have been turning 40 lately, Jennifer Aniston, Jennifer Lopez, Rachel Hunter, Mat Damon, Uma Thurman, Ethan Hawke, Heather Graham, Tina Fey, Queen Latifah, and Vince Vaughn. All these stars turned 40 this year, and yesterday I proudly joined their ranks!
Yep, 1970 was when I was born. Bell bottoms, polyester and long dresses, I can remember them all. Then the eighties with the fluorescent socks, slap bracelets, side ponytails and pastel high top Reeboks, I was there...the nineties and early 2000's were my band memories, G & R, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Metallica, Nirvana.... So far the 2000s has to me been an eclectic blend of the 60's, 70's and 80's combined with a leftover 90s. Looking back I have saw a lot of history, the 1976 bicentennial, the shooting of Lennon and of Reagan, the tearing down of the Wall, Desert Storm, Black Friday, The Twin Towers, the first black president and the first woman to run for vice president. Seeing on TV a princess marry then tragically die. Seeing me get married to a great guy! Seeing presidents fall from grace and be made fun of on every TV channel, only to rise again in the public eye. From bag phones in the car to Cell phones that do EVERYTHING, from TV consoles that only got 4 channels to flat screen TVs with 3D that get hundreds of stations, am/fm to Sirius radio, from only having a few computers in offices to now having multiple computers in every home and knowing what is going on right now, halfway around the world, thanks to internet and satellites, it is amazing what we as the world has accomplished. And of course I can't forget my greatest accomplishment, these two nuts in the pic, my beautiful, sweet children that I love more then life itself.
I can't wait to see what the next forty years will hold for me to see, be a part of and remember!
So happy Birthday to me and to all the other people out there who are turning 40, just remember, life is just beginning!
